In Singapore, periodontal (gum) treatment is available.

The periodontium, which comprises the gingiva (gums) and supporting tissues, is the subject of periodontics (bone, cementum-root surface, periodontal ligament ).

Gingivitis, which is gum inflammation (and bleeding), to periodontitis, which is the destruction and removal of the gum attachment to the root surface, are both examples of periodontal disease. Periodontitis causes pockets in the mouth as well as bone loss.

Periodontal Examination – To assess the degree of periodontal disease, a thorough examination of the mouth, gums, and teeth is required. Pocket depths (when the gums are not attached to the root surface), gum recession, how loose (shaky) the teeth are, how much bleeding is present, full mouth x-rays…. And then will we be able to devise a treatment strategy.

Periodontal disorder treatment

Most cases can be handled non-surgically with excellent results when performed thoroughly and meticulously, according to our extensive experience. Patients and referring dentists are often taken aback when they learn that surgery is not necessary.

Periodontal surgery is another alternative that is used to treat gum disease

In our clinic, surgery is only used in the treatment of periodontitis on a very rare basis. Other treatments, such as cosmetic procedures for correcting a “gummy smile,” crown lengthening surgery when a tooth is too short for the positioning of a crown, and gum grafting when there is recession, do require surgery.

Dental implants

Teeth must sometimes be extracted due to extreme tooth decay, gum disease, or a severe crack stretching down the root caused by an accident. Depending on where the missing tooth is located, it can influence how you smile or even cause a lack of facial support, causing the cheeks to appear sunken in.
